Course Learning Outcome #5

“Engage in genre analysis and multimodal composing to explore effective writing across disciplinary contexts and beyond”

In order to get a better understanding of how to compose each major assignment, we did a genre analysis on the works of previous students. It was very useful because it gave me more of an idea as to how the assignment should be done.

Additionally, we utilized multimodal platforms to effectively address our writing in our engineering proposal project. First, we wrote out our proposal in great detail on a document, as seen in figure 2, this document included a cover page, a table of contents, sections and subsections. The history behind our proposal was elaborated on, along with the problem statement, solution, and approach we intended to take. However, aside from writing this proposal on a document, we also presented it to the class using a powerpoint. Figure 1 demonstrates the cover of the powerpoint. This version was more brief and concise, only addressing the key factors that the audience would have to be aware of at the moment.
