Stance

The stance discusses your attitude towards the topic. One is allowed to have an opinion or viewpoint towards the topic you’re discussing but that doesn’t mean it’ll be portrayed in your writing.

For example, in the memo, my stance was that students are not able to get in touch with the office of admissions about concerns they have. Due to this viewpoint, I was able to formulate a brief explanation as to the problem that is occurring and a proper solution. This stance is displayed in figure 1.

However, in the engineering proposal my stance was neutral, I didn’t display my viewpoint because the purpose of the proposal was to introduce a solution to the loss of vegetation that occurs after wildfires. This stance is further elaborated in figure 2.
