Once the audience and purpose have been determined, one chooses the correct way to display the information they want to present, such as the correct genre. Genre is the kind of writing, the way you organize your information, whether it’s through a book report or an article. Theres an immense amount of genres to choose from. Throughout this course we worked on various genres but the main ones utilized were: Memo, Technical Description, Lab Report, and Engineering Proposal.

Whether I had experience with this types of writings or not, they were all very difficult at first. However, once I viewed previous samples and what each genre consisted of, I gained more knowledge and confidence in writing these pieces. The following image displays a few of the major genres that were included in the syllabus.
